Visual Communication and Design

This semester Year 10 students in Photography have gone back to basics and retrieved the techniques of Many Ray from the 1920’s……these artists practiced in a time just after the first world war and the Spanish flu pandemic when loss and tragedy had been a part of many lives. They wanted to transform the world we live in and bring fresh perspectives; a new and brave way of looking at the world. Our students have explored these techniques in the darkroom and extended them into our digital age.

Visual Arts

During Unit 1 Art, students created a series of artworks, on the theme of Identity. As a starting point for their inspiration, students took self-portrait photographs and also looked at their immediate surroundings. Using a variety of media (collage, oil paint, watercolour and pen, dry and oil pastel, coloured pencil, graphite, charcoal and biro), students created artworks based on the way they perceive and express themselves.
