Focus on Learning

Joblink Plus Indigenous Art Competition

We would like to congratulate one of our Year 2 students Marlee McIntyre who entered the Joblink Plus Indigenous Art Competition earlier this year. In total there were 83 entries from 46 individual artists, from 20 different locations within NSW.

We are excited to announce that Marlee's artwork "The Chicken" (pictured below) placed second overall in the junior category. Well done Marlee, we are super proud of your efforts.

National Reconciliation Week 2020

#In This Together!

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The dates for NRW remain the same each year: 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey.

  • 27 May 1967 – the referendum that saw more than 90 per cent of Australians vote to give the Australian Government power to make laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and recognise them in the census.
  • 3 June 1992 – the Australian High Court delivered the Mabo decision, which recognised that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a special relationship with the land. This paved the way for land rights or Native Title.

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Return to full time face to face teaching

This week we welcomed back all our students to full time face to face teaching. We are very excited about the structures that have been put in place to support our students on their return. Teachers are currently assessing where each child is at with their own individual learning, so to plan and direct future learning needs. Time is also allocated throughout the week to ensure staff and students have time to reconnect and foster positive relationships. Wellbeing of students will be closely monitored on their return to full time face to face learning.
