Friday 15 November - OPEN EVENT

Next Friday, 15 November we are holding three significant events concurrently at school and we’d love to see as many visitors as possible come along and enjoy what’s on offer – as below:

  1. Learning Celebrations – from 2:30-3:20pm we welcome parents, family members and friends into all classrooms for students to share their academic achievements;
  2. 2:30-4:30pm our Café 1739 is having its GRAND OPENING – please drop in and enjoy our hospitality, drinks and foods (in the Learning Pod / Shelter Shed); and
  3. 2:30-4:00pm we have a Book Fair in our Blue Hall for students to enjoy with their parents and friends – come along and purchase a book with proceeds going back to the school.

Please note, there won’t be an assembly held on this day.

School Council

Our November General meeting of the School Council is this coming Monday 11 November from 7:00pm.  Associated sub-committee meetings will be held from 6:15pm prior to the general meeting.

Transition – Day 2

Next Tuesday 12 November is our second 2020 foundation student transition morning from 9:30-10:30am.  It is exciting to welcome all new and existing families into our school for what we hope is an enlightening and most beneficial transition program.

Students are interacting and taking part in activities for the hour in rooms 1-3 before we place them into their foundation classes.

Next week’s focus for parents will be around curriculum and well-being.

Remembrance Day

Next Monday 11 November, all staff and students will observe a minutes silence at 11:00am to commemorate Remembrance Day, 2019.

Miners Rest & District Lions Club also hold a commemorative service at the Miners Rest Cenotaph for community members to remember.

Student leaders from our school will lay a wreath and complete a reading as well as a poem.

Springfest (re-run)

This year, thanks to Alyson, our PFA President, Miners Rest Primary School & Kindergarten are beneficiaries of the Springfest celebrations, ran by Rotary.

To receive the min. $2500.00 we are seeking support of approx. 40 volunteers to complete some easy tasks on the actual day – Sunday 24 November at Lake Wendouree.

Please help us support Springfest to gain the funds that we wish to put back into our children’s education.

Contact the school on 5334 6328 for further information, and to offer 3hrs of volunteer support, which will truly make a difference!

Please help share that true community feel we excel in at Miners Rest.

Year 2 Sleepover

Good luck to our Year 2 Sleepover participants and staff for tonight.  A huge thanks to our Year 6 leaders, supporting the Year 2 students with some fun activities.

It’s a great first step in our camping program, outlined below…
