Year 10 health & Physical Education 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Students will participate in sports, games and activities which will require them to learn new skills or adapt previously learnt skills in a new context. They will examine the human structure and function and skill acquisition principles that can be applied in physical activity and sport. They explore language associated to biomechanics and use this knowledge to explore and explain physical activities opportunities provided throughout a variety of measures. Through an involvement in a variety of practical activities, students investigate and analyse locomotive movement patterns. They develop a broad understanding of fitness components, methods to develop these areas and principles athletes use to develop their capabilities in their sport.

HEALTH & HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

Human Development will provide students with the opportunity to develop a broad view of health and wellbeing. It will incorporate physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions. Students will also explore the biological, sociocultural and environmental factors. They will examine how health and wellbeing may be influenced across the lifespan by the conditions into which people are born, grow, live, work and age. Students will also develop an understanding of the Australian healthcare system and explore the importance of health in society.
