Artists of the Weeks

Artist of the week beginning May 20 is Theia C of FKJ with her wonderful representation of an Autumn Tree. We might be in the last days of the season, but we have been enjoying some unseasonably warm temperatures, and there are still many leaves on some trees that are yet to change colour and fall. Theia used skills in drawing, rubbing, painting and collage to complete her  work.  Remember that "Winter is Coming", and we will use this season too as a source of inspiration for our Foundies soon.

Artist of the week beginning May 27 is Kimberly S from 34T  for her terrific Mirka Mora inspired doll.

Kimberly used many skills when creating this soft textile sculpture such as designing a pattern, transferring the pattern onto calico material, using a sewing machine (with some adult help),  cutting, stuffing and finally painting. These creations have taken many weeks and the students have worked with persistance to finish them off.

What a terrific result!!!!

Zart Student Gallery

After forwarding some photographs of our Mirka Mora inspired dolls to Zart, the company from whom we purchase most of our art supplies, we are very excited to learn that we have been selected to show some of these works as part of their term 4 exhibition in their Student Gallery. For those children whose work is selected this will mean that they will have to wait a little longer before bring their work home to share, but that in the meantime it will be on display in a real gallery to teachers and students from all over Victoria. There may even be an opening event for exhibitors and their families. More on this later.
