Extend After School Care at Kilvington Grammar School

Our Recap

What a big and busy couple of weeks it has been at ASC. We took full advantage of the Olympics being top of mind and did as many different activities as possible. We had our own medal chart to keep track of all the different countries, as well as cooking some fantastic biscuits with the colours of the Olympic Rings. To finish off, the children participated in their own mini Olympic style games with lots of running races as well as a couple of field events. We all then stepped onto the top of the podium with the ‘Gold Medals’ that we made ourselves. It was great to see the children giving their best efforts with great big smiles, which is what the Olympics is all about! Great work everyone!

The past week has also seen the children whip up some surprisingly delicious banana biscuits with a few taking the recipe home with them! Staying with the theme of cooking, the children attempted to use a bit of science to make their very own butter!

After a slow start, with many not convinced that just by shaking the cream and salt together we could come up with the goods. But with persistence and some very sore arms, after 10 minutes or so we started to see our efforts rewarded. However, I am not sure if it tasted any good!

Finally, it was great to see the kids get behind the ‘Extend Friends’ initiative with so many of us producing great designs out of clay, drawings and I think I even saw a couple of collages put together. I was very pleased to see the most common feature being the large group of people that each person had in their picture! A great testament to the beautiful, caring and kind children that attend ASC!
