Don’t forget to book your tickets to the Father’s Day Breakfast which will be held from 7.30am to 8.30am on Friday 2 September.
This is a great opportunity for Dads and special people to spend some time with the young people in their lives. There will be a variety of delicious breakfast offerings catering for all tastes.
Mark Baker, CEO of the Press Club and former Senior Editor of The Age, Editor of The Canberra Times and Managing Editor (National) of Fairfax Media, is our guest speaker.
Tickets can be booked here.
ELC 20th Anniversary Mural & Plaque
Pop down to the ELC in the Junior School and check out the student’s commemoration of the Centre’s 20th anniversary. Each child has drawn a picture of themselves which has been cleverly crafted together to create a ‘living’ mural by our Maintenance Team, headed by Pete Woolfrey.
What a talented group of little artists and Maintenance staff!

Mark Baker’s Book Launch
On 20 July, Year 12 students Patrick Blyth, Wayne Kong, and myself accompanied Mr Charlton to author and CEO of Melbourne Press Club Mark Baker’s launch of his new book - The Remarkable Life of One of Australia’s Greatest War Correspondents.
The book is the definitive biography of one of Australia’s greatest World War 1 correspondents, Phillip Schuler.
Les Carlyon launched the novel with a warm tribute to Mark Baker, who then introduced the most intriguing events of Schuler’s life. We were then lucky enough to be present for an engaging question forum, the main highlight being a fiery debate with a very vocal anti-war patron.
Overall, it was a fascinating afternoon that was equally rewarding and enjoyable for all present.

Meeting Senator Derryn Hinch
On 5 August, The Melbourne Press Club hosted an intimate and open interview with Senator Derryn Hinch where the likes of news reporters, journalists and other assorted guests were given the opportunity to gain an insight into the Senator’s views. Among these lucky people were Year 11 students Max Weir, Laura Burgoine and myself, who listened intently and were given the chance to ask Senator Hinch a question.
The Press Club allowed for an exciting and enriching experience for everyone. I’d like to say a big thank you to Mr Charlton and the Melbourne Press Club for allowing us to have the chance to participate.
