Literacy and Numeracy

Positive Literacy Growth in Tutorial Groups!
Literacy testing has been completed for another semester, and there is plenty of good news, especially for our lower year levels.
Over 100 students jumped a reading level, meaning they showed sufficient progress to move into a more advanced literacy group for the rest of the year.
Congratulations to all those students who moved forward, and a big thank you from the Literacy team to all those teachers working hard to further student literacy during tutorial groups!

Numeracy Update
Numeracy is continuing strongly again this semester. All classes across Years 7 to 10 begun the semester with a unit on Algebraic Equations, while some year levels now having moved onto the next unit of Linear Graphing.
Each class in years 7 to 9 have been completing a scheduled Problem Solving lesson each week, with these lessons designed to broaden students problem solving strategies and apply their knowledge to real-life scenarios. These classrooms have become hives of activity, and in some cases we’re seeing teachers apply team-teaching strategies, which have resulted in students from across classes working together to solve problems as a collaborative group.
Students are regularly using rubrics to go alongside baseline assessments and Achievement Indicators, which allows them extend their learning further, and has so far resulted in incredible growth in student outcomes.
