Principal's Report

Performing Arts

There is more to a successful school than the learning that students do in class. At Staughton, we actively seek opportunities for students to develop outside the classroom in their areas of particular personal interest.  All of our staff are involved in co-curricular activities where strong teacher – student partnerships are developed. In the next month, there are two  great examples of this.

During August, our Music Department is holding ‘Instrumental Music Winter Workshop Month’. Each week, there will be two workshops at lunchtime focusing on different areas of music production, performance and practice. Instrumental teachers, other Staughton staff and students have combined to lead the workshops. I would like to celebrate the hard work of our Music Coordinator, Lauren Moore, in organising what promises to be an exciting month of lunchtime activities for students interested in music.

On 18th and 19th August, we will be holding our biannual Variety Show. The Variety Show is held in the ‘off’ year between Whole School Productions. It involves a variety of acts driven by student interest. Rehearsals have been underway for some time already, including a number of weekend sessions. It should be a terrific show! You may have seen some of the rehearsals on our Facebook page. Tickets are available through the following link https://www.trybooking.com/MFOM https://www.trybooking.com/MFOM.

Parent, Teacher & Student Conferences 10th August

At Staughton, we greatly value the parent, teacher and student partnership. The next opportunity to conference with your child and their teachers is on the afternoon/evening of Wednesday 10th of August.

We have had very high attendance at these conferences so far this year. For many of our students, this will be a celebration of their achievements, as a result of their effort, so far this year. We are very keen for all students and parents to work together on this night. Please book your conferences through the parent portal.
