FOODS
Cooking for a cause!
Foods students at Etty Street have been cooking for a number of different causes during Semester Two. They produced a range of purple cup cakes to mark the celebration of Diversity Day, presented a splendid morning tea to raise funds for the Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia, helped to prepare dishes for the Orphfund Auction Night, and are about to prepare an African meal for Castlemaine OXFAM’s 21st Birthday Celebrations! Cooking is always fun, but when it is for a good cause it is doubly worthwhile!
VET Hospitality Kitchen Operations students working at Bendigo TAFE
Throughout Terms Two and Three students studying Kitchen Operations spent every Monday afternoon cooking in the commercial kitchen in Bendigo. They learnt how to prepare, cook and present a range of interesting dishes using the thirteen different methods of cookery.
DISCO EVENT – Dance Students
Early in September a Disco was organised at Blakeley Rd by the Dance Students with the support of staff and catering from the Church of Christ. At least 200 students were involved which included a Cheerleader Performance, a Limbo Competition and dance competitions for different year levels and a support crew of 20 students.
This event was an extension of the Dance personal development program where students assisted in the Disco and dance project, developed their leadership skills and confidence from being engaged and connected to others.
According to Steph Hull she enjoyed the Disco due to her involvement as a Cheerleader, but also it was about the ability to have fun, join in with others, dancing and listening to music. All the students were friendly, having a go and supporting each other. It provided activities that were different at the school and gave students something to look forward to out of their normal lunch time.
The atmosphere at Disco was exceptional and there were double the numbers involved than expected. A highly successful event!

Magpie Relocated
The school has had our swooping friend professionally relocated from a near by property at the Blakeley Rd Campus to a new home 100km away. All went very well and the bird is now in an area away from public.
