Sport

Year 7 Girls Basketball

On Friday the 28th we played basketball against other schools in Bendigo. We ended up playing six games with only five players for the whole day including the Semi and grand final. We won against Girton in the first game 30-5, Lost the second game in a very close match again BSE 8-13and won the third game 39-17 against Crusoe. This put us in the semi final against Marist College when we won 21-15. The Grand final was a very close game against Catholic College but unfortunately we lost 19-24. All the girls continued to do their best even when tired and all showed great teamwork. The Players were Chloe Langley, Rachael Stubbings, Bec Elliott, Tarni Williams and Jemma Finning. Also a big thankyou to Ebony Turtle Reynolds who came along to help score.

Year 7 Boys Basketball

The Year 7 Boys also went along to the Schweppes Centre in Bendigo with only five players for the day. The boys won the first game against Girton 26-34, lost the second game to BSE 6-26 and won their final game in a tight match against Crusoe 16-13. This took them through to play for fourth position in the final where they won against Eaglehawk 20-6. The boys all played well especially considering they only had five players. This included Ben Stubbings, Kian Brownfield, Zavier Murley, Jack Ginnivan and Cory Farrell.

Year 8 Boys Basketball

Also due to sickness the year 8 boys only had five players competing against tough competition from large schools. The boys won their first game against Girton 17-14, and then went on to lose the next two against BSE 3-14 and Crusoe 9-19. The boys worked well as a team encouraging each other and did not give up their fight throughout all their games. The Boys played in their final for fifth position and won against Eaglehawk 25-17. A great effort for all those involved. Linc Boyack, Myles Lawrence, Patrick Grant, Michael Shannon and Otis Wilson.

Loddon Mallee Athletics Win

Bailey Cooper represented Castlemaine Secondary College at the Sandhurst Division athletics winning all three throwing events which took him on to the Loddon Mallee Region finals.

Bailey competed against students from a great distance including Swan Hill, Mildura, Echuca, Bendigo and everywhere in between. Bailey had great success gaining second in shotput with a personal best, fourth in discus and  first in javelin also with a personal best. From here Bailey will now represent the school at a state level for Javelin.

At State level Bailey finished fourth for javelin. This was a fantastic effort to perform so well at such a high level. We are very proud of Bailey and his efforts, and wish him all the best for his next adventure at the All Schools Carnival.
