Principal Report

Mary McPherson

As we farewell another year of graduates it is a chance to reflect both on the school, the learning, knowledge, skills and attributes that our students have acquired in the time they have attend the College. You often here people talk about their school, “Oh, my school it is 50 years old” as if that is a long time. Graduates of CSC are part of a very long tradition. Our school has been built on 2 schools, one that started 128 years ago and one that is 104 years old. One of our student alumni dates back 103 years and recently held a reunion and reenactment of a dinner that occurred in Melbourne 100 Years. As year 12 graduates, our students join former students who have become doctors, lawyers, judges, builders, researchers, financiers, landscapers, security staff, footballers, teachers and many others roles often including mothers and fathers. The journey is just starting for the class of 2015 and as a school community we hope that they take with them a solid education on which to build their futures. They take with them their School Values of Pride, Respect and Responsibility and know that they are the able to contribute to the communities in which they will belong. Knowledge that they have been supported by their teachers and families, that they have been cared for and nurtured over their time at the college. That their school has provided  them  with an environment in which they could learn, grow and develop into Men and Women that  have an exciting future and able to achieve their dreams.

I will be on leave for the Next month, November for happy family reasons. I will be travelling to Paris and London to see my children and husband who are currently working overseas for a family celebration.  Brian Brasher will be Principal in my absence and he will be supported by Paul Frye and Judith McLean as the Assistant Principals. I am confident that all will go well in my absence.

Host Families 2016

We have 30 Chinese studnts in years 7-9  coming  to Castlemaine Secondary College from the 28th January to 18th February. All of the excursion programs we have hosted previously are cultural exchanges. This is a funded educational program and is slighty different. The students pay for the experience and will include formal english lessons and classes, as well as some cultural activities. This is a fundraiser organised  through for the school and it is school council.

We require 15 host families, the children are happy to stay in pairs and there will a small financial payment to families who host the students as it a funded program. There will be an information session held on Wednesday 18th November @ 7pm in the Wellbeing Centre. Please consider this wonderful opportunity, contact Gaye Turner on 5479 1111 if you are interested in attending .
