Year 9 The Rite Journey

We were excited to formally begin 'The Rite Journey’ in Week 4 with two important events which occurred for both students and their parents/guardians, titled the ‘Departure’ and the ‘Calling’.

The Departure was a very special evening held at the College where parents/guardians and students were invited to learn about the program; its purpose and objectives. One of the main objectives of the evening was also to have students ‘depart’ on their journey and transition from adolescence into young adulthood. The following day, students were ‘called’ to begin their journey by facing their first challenge of leaving behind childish behaviours and being ready to develop into young, community-minded, responsible adults. A very significant stage in a teenager's life indeed!

Year 6 Canberra Camp

The Year 6 students had an incredible week-long experience exploring their Capital City from 27 February to 3 March. They extended their learning as they visited venue after venue meeting knowledgeable guides, asking deep questions, and participating in new experiences. Some of the highlights included the National Museum, National Gallery, Australian Institute of Sport, Questacon, and of course Parliament House. We couldn’t be more proud of the way our students grew in confidence, represented the school and enthusiastically participated in every activity.

As part of the Parliament and Civics Education program, the College receives a government grant of $45 toward each student's travel costs, which was taken into consideration when finalising the total cost for this experience. We are fortunate to have a government that recognises the importance of encouraging school students to visit our nation’s Capital and to immerse them in informative and interactive ways to discover our Nation’s development and democratic values. We would like to take this opportunity to thank PACER for their financial support.
