To qualify for Polding Athletics, competitors need to place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the track and field events, however, in the field events, competitors also need to make qualifying heights/distances. Congratulations to these students who have qualified for Polding Athletics held at Sydney Olympic Park on the 13th October: Paige Floyd (100m, 200m, 800m), Aila McBain (800m & 1500m), Fletcher Barratt (800m, 1500m, High Jump & Discus), Ella Bruce (Discus), Rosemary Wright (Discus) and Charlotte Neville (1500m).

The 1500m was held at Diocesan Athletics for the first time this year, so congratulations to Aila and Fletcher who have set the new records for their age in this event.

Thank you to Mr McManus who trained our students in High Jump and Miss Lizzie Chard who helped with Discus and Shot Put. Your skills in these areas were well received by the students and myself. Also, a big thank you must go to our parents who transported their child/ren to this event. Your help in doing this is greatly appreciated.

Good Luck Kaden and Mary!

This Saturday, past St Joseph’s students, Kaden Elliot and Mary Arandale will compete in Canberra at the Schools Sport Australian Cross Country Championships. We have many little long distance runners at our school who train with these two and look up to them. They have worked hard for years to achieve at this level and are outstanding role models for fellow athletes. Our St Joseph’s community wishes them all the best on Saturday. What an amazing achievement for Kaden and Mary.
