Messages from our Librarian - Mrs Adams
What an absolutely fantastic day we had yesterday. It was wonderful to see so many of you here to view the Book Parade. It was lovely to be joined by our little Joeys and our visitors from preschool. We also had lots of parents purchase and donate books to our library.
Read, Grow, Inspire was the theme this year and in this manner, children are almost like plants and literature is the sun, the soil, and the water. With good literature, your students can grow and flourish and we are very fortunate here at St Joseph's to have an amazing selection of literature for our children to borrow.
We certainly have had fun with the theme this year. Our inspiration came from the book Tiny Wonders and it’s based on the fact flowers have a language too eg. a red rose means I love you, while a yellow one means let's be friends. A dandelion means let's spread happiness, a peony means I’m beautiful and a daisy means I’ll be true to you. We have included many flowers in our display and all children have been part of the display.
Our little Joeys made the flowers in the pot and the large flowers on the post.
Kinders have made the daffodils in the garden.
Stage 1 have made the colourful daisy garlands hanging from the tree with the Stage 2’s handpainted flowers .
And Stage 3 have made the beautiful crepe paper peonies, poppies, hibiscus and camellias.
And the children in the makerspace have made our large flowers and bluebells.
Thank you to all the teachers and teacher aides who helped make this day such a success. It is a real team effort and the beautiful display was a result of this.
