NEWS & ADMINISTRATION

Mrs Caroline Galea

Dear Parents,

In the next fortnight we will be saying farewell to Maria Lontos, as she embarks on motherhood.  Maria will be leaving on Friday 10th March.  We wish Maria and Dean the very best of luck on the arrival of their first born child.  When the baby arrives, we will let you know.  While Maria is on maternity leave, we welcome Mrs Rannah Scamporlino to our staff.  Rannah brings with her, a wealth of knowledge and I know she will be an asset to our staff.

RECONCILIATION

On Wednesday 1st March, 22 students celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

We congratulate all the students and their families on a wonderful evening and hope that they always find peace in their lives.  I hope this is the beginning of their long journey with their Catholic faith.

Circular Driveway

If you use the circular driveway in front of the church to drop off or pick up your child, please remember not to get out of your car and leave it alone. The idea behind this driveway is that cars are continually moving. Rather, encourage your child to make their way from their classroom to this area as quickly as possible.

Emails

Holy Name welcomes parent contact about their children.  Please note that some nights when staff are expected to be in meetings, the best way to contact them is via email.

Staff are discouraged from answering emails after 4:30pm.  Emails will be answered the next day.

Preps First Full Week

This week, the Prep students experienced their first full week.  You may notice that your child is coming home particularly tired. This is a good time to set early bed times and ensure that your child is getting the rest that they require while they are building school stamina.

Grade 5/6 Swimming

A note went home to all parents in regard to Grade 5/6 swimming later this term. This five day program is all about water safety and being able to swim a short distance.  All children are expected to take part in this program, which will take place at Reservoir Leisure Centre.

Grade 5/6 Camp

Wednesday 8th - 10th March 2023

Next week, our Year 5/6 children will be going on camp to Phillip Island.  I know that the children will have a wonderful time.  Could I please ask that all camp fees are paid prior to the children attending their camp, as this is money we need to outlay.

Family Fun Day

Thank you to the many wonderful families who answered our call and have placed themselves on our Family Day roster.

Just a reminder if you are able to spare an hour on Family Fun Day, could you please make contact with the school office to place your name on our roster.

All Issue 2 orders must be back or placed online by 3.30pm on Monday 20 March.

Parent Class Representatives

Each year, we call for parent volunteers to act as Class Representatives who are an important part of our school in assisting us to build a strong community. This is not a difficult role and would suit either a mum or dad.  The Role of the Reps is as follows:

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUGGESTIONS

  • Acts as a contact point between the Parents & Friends and school
  • Feedback to P & F and School Staff on what parents are thinking and commenting on
  • Act as a source of information for new families to the school
  • Acting as an extra line of communication between the teacher and parents, for example by passing on messages about school events
  • Organise social events for parents to get to know each other
  • Setting up and running a Facebook page where class parents can communicate

There are 11 classes and we are looking for one rep per class.  In the past, some classes have had two reps and this has worked particularly well, so if you would like to partner up with another parent in your child's class, please do so.

If you are interested in taking on this role, please see/email Leanne in the office (office@hnpe.catholic.edu.au) as soon as possible. We will be in touch with all parents who volunteer.
