Year 8 MaristChef Challenge

Congratulations to our Year 8 students who participated in the Kokoda Challenge Days in Week 7.

In preparation for Year 9 camp (and beyond), Mr Craig Milligan, Pastoral Leader – Middle School, has invited our Year 8 students to participate in the inaugural “MaristChef” challenge. During the school holidays, each student is encouraged to prepare one meal for family and friends, take a photo and submit via the House page on Stile. There will be a winner for each House, who will receive a Red Balloon Gift voucher which can be used towards a cooking class or another exciting activity.

Responsible Thinking Classroom – Parent Notification

As part of the College’s student management, teachers will make use of the Responsible Thinking Process including the Responsible Thinking Classroom (RTC) when students are removed from class, sent to the RTC, giving time out to reflect on their behaviour.

The room provides a place for students to reflect on problematic behaviour and develop a plan to move forward in a positive way, and for classroom re-entry when applicable.

The process assists a student to reflect on their behaviour, search within and make choices about their behaviour to reach their learning goals without disrupting others.

When students are removed from class to the RTC, parents will receive a notification through Parent Lounge.

Harmony Week - Marist SchoolTV

Harmony Week is celebrated each year during March. It is an opportunity to recognise Australia's multiculturalism, which embraces people from all over the world. Last week at assembly we celebrated the diverse cultural backgrounds of our students and their families. A highlight of the presentation was a performance celebrating the range of diverse cultures in our community featuring a Samoan dance.

Included is a link to the latest Marist SchoolTV special celebrating Harmony Week. This Special Report hopes to instil positive values and create an opportunity to start a conversation with your child about understanding diversity and multiculturalism.
