Mrs Anna Nasr

In our Prayers

We pray for the repose of the souls of Fr John Boyd-Boland ofm and Mr Robert Out.

Reflection

Much like Mary the Mother of Jesus, there is not a great deal written about Joseph in the Gospels. Having said that we do know a little about just how extraordinary Joseph was.

Pope Francis has a special devotion to St Joseph and often speaks about his thoughts and feelings regarding Joseph.

He said: ‘Joseph is a “protector” because he is able to hear God’s voice and be guided by his will; and for this reason, he is all the more sensitive to the persons entrusted to his safekeeping. He can look at things realistically, he is in touch with his surroundings, he can make truly wise decisions. In him, dear friends, we learn how to respond to God’s call, readily and willingly.

In the Gospels, Saint Joseph appears as a strong and courageous man, a working man, yet in his heart we see great tenderness, which is not the virtue of the weak but rather a sign of strength of spirit and a capacity for concern, for compassion, for genuine openness to others, for love. We must not be afraid of goodness, of tenderness!’

Prayer

Saint Joseph protect our family from every danger from without and from every threat to peace, unity, and harmony within.
Saint Joseph teach us to be kind and loving towards one another,
careful with one another,
tolerant of one another,
forgiving towards one another.
Saint Joseph may contentment with lot and joy in each other abound in our houses, as we seek faithfully to serve and greatly to love God.
Saint Joseph, be you yourself a father towards the family of ours and pray Mary be a mother to us all.

What is Game Changers?

Game Changers is a comprehensive Catholic youth ministry program for students in Marist Schools from Years 7-12. It is designed to be an ongoing leadership and mentoring program for Marist students.

It seeks to form Christian leaders by making Jesus Christ known and loved among them – the Mission of the Marist institute and of this College.

It involves regular meetings; faith formation experiences and service opportunities and students are invited to become game changers through their participation in the group.

Game Changers is grounded in a series of tracks, each with their own stories, symbols and activities.

Through their participation in each track, the students come to a deeper appreciation of what and who shapes our Christian identity and Marist spirituality.

Each track is led by a Mentor (member of staff)

Each track lasts two years. While it is hoped that each student participates in the Game Changers youth group for the entire two-year journey, they are free to conclude or recommit at the end of each year.

One Journey, Three Tracks

What will this look like at Marist College Ashgrove?

Groups will meet regularly during Break times.

The program includes a Regional Retreat Day for each year group, and an additional Leadership Camp for Year 10 Students.

To register for Game Changers, or for more information, please email Mena McLean (mcleanm@marash.qld.edu.au) or come and visit anyone in the Mission Team area behind the Chapel.
