Foley House News

Ms Julia Wilken - Head of Foley House

It’s hard to believe we’re nearing the end of Term 1, and what a term it has been for the Foley students. I’ve been warmly welcomed by the boys and staff and thank them all for their support. I continue to encourage them all to strive for their personal best whilst being courageous and caring young men.

Highlights of the Term

Year 12 Formal

The Year 12s donned their best suits whilst they escorted their partners to the 2023 Senior Formal. It was a fantastic night for all and a wonderful opportunity for the cohort to celebrate their final year.

Year 7 Camp

We’ve welcomed our new Year 7s to Foley! The boys had an adventurous and exciting time participating in mid-ropes, pool sports and many team building activities whilst staying at Marantha on the Sunshine Coast. Each student gave 110% and rallied together to support one another to face their fears. Thank you to Leo Grimson and Henry Lambley for assisting Marcus Schrader and I over the three-day camp.

Swimming Carnival

Despite the house results not showing the enthusiasm displayed by the Foley boys over the day, we still gave it our all. Excellent work to the Year 12s who supported the Year 7s during their very first senior swimming carnival. Thank you to all the boys who showed up, got in the pool, and gave it a go! That’s what it’s all about.

Spelling Bee

Harold House ran the very first annual spelling bee in Week 5. Thank you to the following students for stepping up during a very challenging competition:

  • Year 7/8: Will Thomas, Reilly Keane and Lachie McAndrews
  • Year 9/10: Charlie Speakman and Max Gallagher
  • Year 11/12: Henry Cook, Shawn Simonetti and Zac Colquhoun

MATES Competition

Foley Mission Captain Braden Gettliffe has led the charge organising a competition between Pastoral Groups. The PG with the highest number of Mates hours at the end of the school year will win a pizza party. A points update will be posted to the Foley Moodle Page.
