Welcome to St Anne's College
We have welcomed many new staff to St Anne's College this year and in this edition of il giornale we would like to introduce you to School of Wonder Leader Megan Shiner, Learning Mentors Jacinta Cari, Emma O'Keeffe and Nicole Dainton, and Food Technology Assistant Beck Gladman.
Megan Shiner
Hi everyone, my name is Megan and I am working in the School of Wonder this year as the School Leader. I feel very privileged to be a part of the St Anne’s College community and look forward to meeting all the families throughout the year. Prior to coming to St Anne’s College, I worked at St John's Euroa for many years as a classroom teacher and numeracy leader.
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my teenage children and walking my dog. I love watching AFL football on the weekends and barrack for the mighty Bombers! I am eager to be a part of this energetic and exciting college that empowers all learners for the future. I am looking forward to contributing to St Anne's College.
Jacinta Cari
Hi everyone, my name is Jacinta Cari and I am very excited to be part of the School of Possibilities team in 2023, teaching Health and Human Development and Food Studies. This is my first year at St Anne's College and I feel very privileged to be part of this growing community. Prior to joining the staff at St Anne's, I was at Greater Shepparton Secondary College, teaching Health and P.E. and also at Notre Dame College teaching classroom music and instrumental music lessons.
Outside of teaching, I work as a nutritionist and have started my own nutrition and counselling business. I am passionate about nutrition, having recently received a Graduate Diploma in Nutrition. I am excited to pass on my knowledge to students to encourage lifelong healthy eating practices and embrace body positivity.
So far this term, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know my students and fellow colleagues. I feel very welcomed and honoured to be part of the St Anne's College community. I am keen to foster new opportunities within the college, both with my knowledge in nutrition and music. I am excited to see the growth in learning and community in 2023!
Emma O'Keeffe
Hi, my name is Emma O'Keeffe and I've previously come from Numurkah Secondary College. I am 34 years old and a keen sports enthusiast. I went to Guthrie St Primary School in Shepparton and Goulburn Valley Grammar School. I completed my Bachelor degree in Physical and Health Education at the University of Ballarat. In my free time I am a personal trainer, helping women get back to a healthy and happy lifestyle.
I have competed for Australia in a sport called sport aerobics for over 20 years, and last year was my final year where I saw out the sport on top and was crowned the 2022 World Champion in my division, a dream since I was 14 years old.
I am a PE specialist at St Anne's and love every minute of watching the students enjoy sport and being active.
Nicole Dainton
Hi, I'm Nicole Dainton. I have worked at St Mary of the Angels Secondary College in Nathalia and done casual relief teaching at a variety of schools around Shepparton.
I was born in Geelong and grew up there. After finishing high school, I went to university in Ballarat and studied Bachelor of Education - Physical Education.
I am a keen swimmer, and train and compete in Masters competitions regularly. I am also a swim coach and currently studying to become an advanced coach in this area. I train triathletes, open water and pool swimmers in the mornings at Aquamoves.
I am a passionate AFL Geelong supporter and enjoy going to the occasional game.
I have three boys, two at school and one in kinder. My husband is also a teacher :)
I am enjoying working with Year 11s in their first year of VCE. It's an exciting time at the college.
Beck Gladman
Hi, my name is Beck Gladman and I am super excited to be part of the St Anne’s team.
My role is in Project 2, which is the Food Technology room.
Primarily I work with the School of Innovation and School of Possibilities, however, some of the School of Wonder children have been choosing something delicious to cook for their iTime projects. Another interesting part of my role is to cater for any events that the college has.
Prior to working at St Anne's, I spent three years working at Bargara State School in Queensland. When we returned to Victoria I spent two years at Wilmot Rd Primary School and one year at Greater Shepparton Secondary College.
I am originally from NSW and I am a proud Boorooberongal Woman of the Dharug Nation. I enjoy immersing myself in my culture and learning my language.
Outside of school I enjoy all forms of art, fishing and going to the beach. I also barrack for the mighty Cats and the mighty Penrith Panthers.
I look forward to the rest of the year at St Anne’s and watching our students on their learning journey where they have endless opportunities.
