Students lap it up at swimming carnival

With our small contingent of three swimmers, St Anne’s College was one of 32 schools to compete at the Hume Region Swimming Carnival held on March 17 at the Wodonga Waves swimming complex. Isabel swam in the 14-year-old women’s breaststroke (four seconds faster than her time at the Shepparton carnival), Elizabeth in the 14-year-old women’s freestyle and backstroke (personal best times in the 50 metre freestyle and backstroke) and Alick in the 17-year-old men’s freestyle and butterfly event.

Alick had a very successful day, winning the 17-year-old men’s 50 metre butterfly and placing in three of four other events. Overall, he was placed second in his age group, missing the top spot by just three points. Alick will now progress to compete at state level in the 17-year-old men’s 50 metre butterfly, representing St Anne’s College and the Hume Region.

May will be the next major month for secondary students' sport with junior, intermediate and senior winter sport days and cross country.

Charli's at the top of her game

School of Possibilities Year 11 student Charli Guppy had her first run with the Murray Bushrangers last Sunday. In what was a great contest with fantastic skill levels on display, the Murray Bushrangers lost by a point to the Bendigo Pioneers.

The Murray Bushrangers are in the Coates Talent League which is a national league fielding teams from throughout Australia. It is the highest level of competition at U18s. The Coates Talent League is regarded as the premier pathway for young Aussie Rules stars to make it to the top of the AFL and AFLW. Congratulations Charli! We are super proud of you!
