Prep News

Term 1, Week 8

Prep Reminders:

Please return the Teddy (school dog) form, swimming and movie permission notes ASAP.

Tomorrow is Harmony Day! Students are encouraged to wear orange tomorrow- if you already have something at home!

Cross Country is on the Monday of the last week of term. In the coming week, we will be sending home a note that states which house your child is in and what colour it is. On the day of Cross Country, your child is encouraged to wear their house colour.

Please ensure your child brings their library books to school every Wednesday to be returned. When they are returned they are able to borrow new books.

Important Information:

Reader bags

Prep children use their reader bag each day at school. After completing your reading at home routine, please pack reader bags back into school bags. Each day we practice the sounds that are in the sound bags and add a new sound. We also are reading the list of yellow words with our reading partners.

Teacher Sound Bags

We are still on the hunt for some objects to add to our teacher sound bags. We use these when are are teaching to have conversations about different things that begin with the letter. If you come across any small objects (that would fit in your hand) in your home or on your adventures that begin with these sounds, we would love them! Thank you.

  • O- orange
  • Qu- queen
  • Z- zip
  • Y- yo-yo
  • X- x-ray
  • U- umbrella

Thank you to those who have already sent in items!

Cued Articulation

As part of our Literacy program we teach students a hand action that represents the way a sound leaves a persons mouth (cued articulation). As we are teaching sounds and not letters this is different to Auslan. Sounds are invisible, therefore hand gestures help form a connection between the sound and a child's brain.

Please see below the link to the cued articulation video:
