Principal's Message

Messages to the Prime Minister from Boambee Students!

Boambee Public School students Evie and Lucy Spencer had a unique chance to share their thoughts and learning with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese last week.

Lucy and Evie's mum Dr Zali Yager was in Canberra meeting with the Prime Minister, and the 2023 Australian of the Year Taryn Brumfitt about body image initiatives. Lucy told the PM that 'everything is possible' and Evie shared her thinking that 'people should use less water'.

Congratulations to Zali on your successful work promoting positive image. Well done Lucy and Evie for your positive thinking and care for our environment.

Below is a link to The Embrace Hub where students, parents, teachers and coaches can find out more about Zali's wonderful work.

Election Day BBQ

Sincere thanks to Mr Moore, Mrs Barden and the families of our Year 5 classes. The Year 5 team spent election day manning the BBQ, selling cakes, sausages, drinks and bacon and egg rolls. The team raised over $1000 which will reduce the cost of the Year 5 Excursion in August. Thank you to all of the families who baked the delicious treats for the cake stall. Thank you to Coffs City Cranes who have made generous donations to our school for events like this.

Easter Hat Parade

We are all looking forward to the Easter Hat Parade on April 6. Families are welcome to join us on the playground for lunch from 11:00 am. The canteen are having a cake stall and sausage sizzle (all sausages are gluten free and gluten free bread is will be available upon request). Please make sure you order your sausages from the canteen prior to the day using the order form that was sent home last week.

Cricket

Our school cricket team have advanced to round two of the PSSA knockout against Narranga, this game will be played at Toormina Oval on April 6, from 9:30 am.

Home Reading

All teachers are still tracking home reading. Whilst our professional learning focus at school has shifted to mathematics all students are expected to be filling out their reading logs at home. In particular, we are looking for our students to expand their vocabulary and add these words to their reading log. Students should predict the meaning of that word and then find out the actual meaning. You can help your child progress with comprehension by talking to them about the book they are reading and also about the new words they are learning about.
