Holy Week Reflection

On Wednesday the students from K-6 were led through a guided meditation and reflection based on The Last Supper. Each class gathered in the hall at different times throughout the day and experienced what it might have been like to be a part of Jesus’ last meal with his friends.

Reconciliation

This week Yr 6 celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation led by Fr Julian and Fr Anderson. The Year 6 Teachers were very proud of the way these students prayerfully and respectfully participated in the Sacrament.  The Opening Prayer for the Liturgy expressed the importance and reason for coming together:

‘Today we come together in the Sacrament Penance to ‘turn back’ to be reconciled with God and the community. Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we celebrate God’s forgiveness which enables us to find peace with God and with the Christian community.’

ANZAC Day

Each year the families and students of OLF have been invited to join

in the ANZAC Day Dawn Service held here in Caringbah. Once again, we are hoping that many of you will take up the invitation to join this year’s observance of ANZAC day on the 25th April.

The Service is organised by the Caringbah RSL Sub Branch and will be held at the War Memorial Park, cnr .of Port Hacking Road and Kingsway Caringbah.

The Service will commence at 4.20am. A March of Service and Ex-Service personnel will leave the corner of Kingsway and Denman Ave at 4.10am.

You are most welcome to join other members of the OLF community at this Dawn

Service. During the Service, a wreath will be laid by some of our student representatives.

The Sacrament of Confirmation

Recently Father Julian sent a message to Candidates who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this year:

Confirmation completes a child’s initiation into the Church. In the Archdiocese of Sydney, this sacrament is received by young people in Year 6 or older, who have already received Baptism, First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, desire Christ in their life and demonstrate an active faith commitment in the Church. The strengthening of the Holy Spirit, along with the opportunity for candidates to publicly state their faith, means that this is a significant moment in their Christian journey, and a time of great blessing for them, your family, and the whole Church community. It is a point in time in which they can affirm their Christian belief and way of life for themselves as they look ahead to being a member of God’s family as young adults.

If your child is receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation next term, please refer to the following dates :

Finally, I wish each of you a blessed and holy Easter and a time of rest and relaxation with

family and friends!
