Melbourne Tigers Basketball Lessons

This week we were fortunate enough to have the Melbourne Tigers coach Wazza ‘Warrick Giddey’ at SMPPS during PE. He is a former professional player and head coach for the Melbourne Tigers women's team. Wazza told the students inspirational stories about his playing career and of his son Josh Giddey who started off in a school in Australia just like our students and is now a professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Wazza along with Coach Hunter were very generous with their time and knowledge and ran Basketball skill lessons with all the grades in their PE class.

Wazza’s message to the students was to grab a ball and ask someone at home to practise with them everyday. If you want to get paid for something you love doing like playing basketball (or any sport) then grab that footy, netball, soccer, tennis or basketball and practise everyday, either with someone or by yourself.

We were all very grateful for the experience and thank Wazza, Hunter and Fiona from the Melbourne Tigers for inspiring and engaging our students.
