This week Primary students have begun accessing sport off-site at Ten Pin Bowling and boxing at PCYC. Some of our students also accessed the spa. Everyone had a fantastic time. Mrs Said will have some photos in the sport section.

Mrs Lloyd has been teaching music in each primary class. This term they are participating in lessons around the theme of 'The Carnival'. The students have loved dressing up and getting involved in listening to music, playing instruments and playing games.

Class 14 have been learning about what it means to be resilient. They showed excellent concentration and persistence solving very tricky 100s chart puzzles. Despite a few setbacks, all students completed their puzzle. Great work kids!

This term we have welcomed two new students to stage 5- Skye and Leilani. It has been great getting to know these students and seeing them enjoying coming to school.

Class 6 have been discussing healthy eating and looking at different types of fruit and vegetables. When they discovered that they had never seen a coconut in real life, Mr T bought one in for them to look at, feel and taste. After spending lots of time trying to crack the coconut, they decided they didn’t mind the flakes but weren’t fans of the water.

We would love to know what the most curious fruit or vegetable is that you have tried.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, some of our students made lovely gifts for the special women in our lives. Class 6 students went to Bunnings to purchase some flowers to gift, and class 9 students made keyrings and shopping list holders. We hope all the mums and carers had a very special Sunday.

Class 9 have loved getting back into the Skills House with Ms Brennan this term. They have been working in the Home Zone and Work Zone practicing skills such as folding washing, making beds, laminating and designing signatures. Dave has started in Barista café and we couldn’t be prouder of how quickly he is picking up the skills in making delicious coffees. Congratulations to Sam and Blake who have graduated from the Barista Skills sessions and will be participating in a Barista Skills course through VERTO in the next couple of weeks.

Stage 6 students have enjoyed getting back into sport this term accessing many great sporting activities including dance, spa, walking, bowling and cross fit. Have a look at the sports section for some great action shots!

Do it for Dolly Day is the 13th May and students have participated in an online session discussing Dolly's Dream and how they can help spread kindness.

Primary Industries students have been helping prepare the Senior Space vegetable gardens for our winter crops that are being planted next week.

Happy Birthday to Tiahna who celebrated her 18th Birthday during the week.

Boys to the Bush

The boys set off on the first day of the 5-week Boys to the Bush program. Despite the cold and wet weather the boys enjoyed going to Hillside Orchard, Borenore Caves, Lake Canobolas (for a BBQ lunch), and PCYC. Boys to the Bush is a community-based charity that focuses on engaging and building resilience in young males. We are looking forward to hearing about their adventures every week

PCYC - Fit for Life program

Students have also been involved in the Fit for Life program on Thursday afternoons. This program involves both an education and a fitness component. Staff from PCYC join us on the Campus to provide mentorship and strategies to improve overall wellbeing. Students have been discussing goal setting as well as sharpening their basketball skills

The Retreat

Students have been visiting and helping out in Retreat as well. Bastian looked like a new man after Miss Krissie washed and styled his hair. Class 17 helped make scrubs for Mothers Day gifts, and have been learning to provide hair care for other students, as well as staff. Both Daisy and Mr Mortimer were treated to some special treatment by Chelsea. It's hard to know who enjoyed it the most!!

Cooking

Cooking and eating are a very important part of learning on the Campus. Working together, Class 17 made a beautiful cheese and bacon cob loaf. The perfect food choice on a cold day - and lots of people's favourite food.
