From the Principal

Term 2 has started as busy as ever and it was great to see our students back after the Easter break. The team of General Assistants made up of Anthony, Megan, Bill, Ian, Morris, Lachie and Pat worked very hard to make sure the school was well maintained over the break, including the completion of the upgrade of the primary playground.

It was with great sadness that we said farewell to Lucas in Year 2. Lucas brought much joy and happiness to our staff and school community and our condolences and love go out to his parents Rohanne and Philip and his twin brother, Dominic. The amazing life-giving gift of organ donation has ensured that his legacy and spirit will live on.

Our school continues to be greatly affected by COVID19 and the start of the flu season. Like many schools across the state, we are severely affected by the teacher shortage and unfortunately, we have had to combine or split classes at various times. If your child is unwell or shows any cold or flu symptoms, please keep them at home until they are symptom-free.

We would like to encourage anyone who would like to volunteer at our school to contact the front office. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and build healthy relationships. It strengthens ties to our school community and supports our students in many ways. We have opportunities to volunteer in the hydrotherapy spa so that our students can receive regular therapy. You do not need any specific skills, just the ability to get in and out of our great, new spa. Our staff are on hand to show you the ropes. Volunteering opportunities also exist in helping students to read, sew, cook or mentor.

Thank you to our dedicated team of P&C workers who held a successful Mother's Day stall at the school. If you can spare an hour or two a month, come along and join the P&C on the first Thursday of each month in the school cafe, as the work this group of people do supports our school through their fundraising efforts.

Our Year 12 student leaders have had the opportunity to show great leadership recently at the ANZAC day service and more generally around the playground. Next week the School Captains will be joining other school leaders from schools around Orange at James Sheahan Catholic High School at the Leaders Summit. Our primary leaders are also demonstrating their leadership skills by leading primary assemblies and running the shake bar with support from the staff.

Congratulations to all the students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 who completed NAPLAN and to thanks to Mr Wong-See who organised the different test days and supervision.

As we head into Winter, please ensure your child/ward is dressed appropriately for the colder weather. If you need any support with uniform, please contact me at school.

Enjoy the rest of the beautiful autumn season.
