The Great Egg Drop Challenge

Students in Years 3-6 were tasked with creating a contraption that will support an egg and stop it from breaking when dropped from the playground tower. Students were put into groups and provided with a range of different materials to chose from and use. The groups needed to consider each different material, their properties and their uses and before evaluating if it would be a beneficial material to use as a part of their contraption.

We learnt about speed and force. Some groups used materials that would slow down the speed of the egg during the fall, while other groups used materials that would absorb the force when it hit the ground. We designed and built our contractions. Stay tuned for the results.
