A Look at Learning

Mrs Matilda Hunt

NAPLAN

A very big congratulations to all students in Years 3 and 5 who completed NAPLAN last week. NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents and carers to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. At the classroom level, NAPLAN provides additional information to support teachers’ professional judgement about student progress. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It doesn’t replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ progress.

Students as Authors Writing Competition

Cold Write

Today, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participated in a Cold Write. The Cold Write is an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learnt, without the assistance of external resources. It also helps to inform learning and teaching. Students wrote persuasive texts to convince their teachers for a class pet! I wonder if there will be any new animals floating, or perhaps swinging or crawling around the school?!
