7B Homeroom - Gaming Meets Gambling
Students explored the blurred boundary between online gaming and gambling. They were provided with the knowledge and strategies to identify the potential risks and to make online gaming safer, allowing them to make more informed choices in this rapidly expanding industry.
Emotional Literacy
This semester 7B has resumed their unit on Emotional Literacy and have started by working in teams to group emotions under the five categories of happiness, sadness, anger, fear and shame. They have also rated these emotions as having from highest to lowest impact.
Students are also watching the movie “Inside Out” and doing some analysis on how to navigate our emotions, and the different ways in which they can be expressed.
Year 9 Digital Technologies
Year 9s have been learning about game development and are now creating their own game. Here are some Year 9 students presenting their game to their class to get some feedback so that they can improve their game.
Year 9E Music
Last Wednesday the year 9E class performed a song from Ghana for the early years students to inspire them to join the Mini Music Makers ensemble. It was a hit! 40 students went along to the rehearsal at lunchtime. We look forward to more music-making in the coming weeks.

DAV Interschool Debating
Our most recent debating was held at Williamstown High School last week. Our winning team of the night remains undefeated this season!
Year 7 Science
Year 7 students have learnt through the kinetic theory of matter, that if you heat something it expands. They learnt that if you heat something, the atoms and molecules start to vibrate and things actually become larger and expand. If you cool something it shrinks. They had fun with solids, liquids and gases looking at balloons expanding and shrinking with heating and cooling.
Year 9 Science
Year 9 students have continued to learn about electric circuits and have been practicing their skills on the PHET App from Colorado University.
