Junior School

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

 James 1:17

A lot happens in the life of the School. It’s so wonderful to share with you just some of these happenings in pictures:

We love it when parents and friends can help us in the classroom. Thank you to Marilyn Gristede and all the other volunteers!
Eleanor and Tyler won first prize in their age groups in the Gateway Plaza Easter Art Competition! Well done!
The Year 4’s performed an item in assembly. It was great to see so many parents there to watch it.
‘Minute to Win it’ continues to be an exciting event in assembly.
We all enjoyed Mrs. McLeod’s assembly talk about King Solomon.

Prep

The Preps have enjoyed learning through the SMART spelling program this year! They especially have enjoyed the fun and wonderful crafts we get to create each week. This is our latest creation - Tin the Robot. Our robots are displayed in the hallway and look fabulous!

Year 1

Over the past two weeks, our Literacy program has revolved around listening to stories about ducks, learning many fun facts about them, focusing on verbs and nouns and enjoying some artwork too.

With the excitement of Mother’s Day, the Year 1 students enjoyed baking some cookies with Mrs Tucker and Mrs Job to prepare a special gift for their Mum or special Mother figure in their life. They also reflected upon the blessings these special people bring into their lives. Here are some of their reflections:

"My Mum is kind, patient, fun, happy, loving, truthful, clever, amazing and peaceful."

"I love you being my Mum. I am thankful for you looking after me. I like it when we cuddle together at night time before bed and you read stories to me."

"I love that you play with me and I will stay with you forever and forever. I will be there even though I am at School."

"Thank you for being a great Mum. I love you. I like it when we watch LEGO Masters on TV. I love playing games with you. I love cooking with you. I love doing craft with you."

Collaboration, Cooperation, Taking Turns, Assisting Others, Listening to Others, Encouraging Others. These were things we focused on while trying out some fun challenges! As you can see, our chaplain, Mr. Wakim joined in too!

Year 3

At this week's Junior School assembly I was encouraged to present the weekly class award to the whole grade. The Year 3 students have displayed a supportive attitude toward the transition of their teachers. All class members are demonstrating kindness, and being thoughtful and considerate toward each other as we work toward creating positive ripples in our classroom.

Year 4

What an amazing bunch of young people we have in Year 4. Our class is working through what it means to be a good friend. We have been looking at the qualities of what makes a good friend and the characteristics they display. We've also looked at what the Bible says about friendship. The challenge has been put out there to put this into practice. It is a journey, however I know that Year 4 is up to the challenge.

Year 5

In preparation for Mother's Day, the Year 5 students practiced their paragraph writing by describing why their Mums are so amazing. Add this writing to a card designed with Henri Matisse's style of cut out art, and hopefully all Year 5 Mums received a beautiful card.

"I am a big Science fan in class, so I did some Science at home. What I did was I changed the colour of a flower by putting food dye in the flower's water, so when it sucked up the water, it changed the colour of the petals".
