The University of Melbourne Girls Power Program

Congratulations to Chiara Marcon-Clement who was selected to be a part of the Year 9 Girls Power in Engineering and Information Technology program organised and funded by The University of Melbourne.

A program for female high school students, contributing towards gender parity in engineering and IT disciplines. This program supports girls from Australia with an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Chiara has shared her thoughts on why she was interested in this encouraging program

I applied for the University of Melbourne’s Girls in Engineering and IT program because I've always wanted to study aerospace engineering and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to learn more about it. When I found out I was accepted into the program, I was ecstatic and I still am! I can’t wait to take part in workshops and activities as well as meet other girls who have the same interests as me.  The program involves a three-day camp in the upcoming holidays, where I will stay on campus in University College (all meals included!). I’m so grateful for all the people who have supported me thus far and I am excited to see what the future holds!

 Well Done Chiara.
