Year 9 Food Lab Inquiry Excursions

All Year 9 classes will do these two-day excursions to Whittlesea Technical College that link with classroom learning and aim to bring innovation into the kitchen.

As food innovators, students will use design thinking methodology and food science to tackle the problem of food waste, converting mushroom stalks into a value added product for our industry partner, Costa Mushrooms.

This is a joint initiative between the Humanities and Science domains and the Whittlesea Technical College to give students skills in inquiry based learning as global citizens.

Over the two days they will go through the Tech School Innovation Process shown below.

The process itself is as important as the product idea/concept as this is where students are able to develop deep learning competencies, capabilities and transferable skills such as communication, problem solving and teamwork.

9A and 9B visited the Tech School in term 1 and came up with some amazing prototypes! See photos attached.

9E and 9D will be attending next week with all other forms visiting over the remainder of the year.
