Primary School News

Mr Liam Beatty, Head of Primary School

Dear Primary Families,

As we enter Week 5, I am sure that I am not the only one who is eagerly waiting for the sun to come out from behind the endless stream of rain clouds.

Despite being stuck inside (or undercover) for the majority of last week, the boys remained focused on their learning and kept themselves busy during break times across a variety of different activities.

The recent weather has impacted a number of our extra-curricular activities. I remind you to continue to check the College App for updates and to discuss a ‘Plan B’ with your son in case training is cancelled. If required, families can also contact Primary Reception directly to pass on information about changes to pick-up arrangements.

NAPLAN

Congratulations to our Year 5 students for the way they engaged in last week’s NAPLAN testing. It was great to see the boys giving their best each and every day. A thanks must also go to the Year 5 teachers for administering the tests via the online platform.

Year 5 Camp

Next Wednesday our Year 5 students take part in their camp to Tallebudgera. Please check the communication sent 27.04.22 for detailed information including departure times and packing lists.

Walkathon

As we continue fundraising for the Walkathon, the Primary School has extended our lead as the highest fundraising group in the College. Congratulations to Henry Walker who coloured in the Walkathon Tally as our highest fundraiser for the week.

Inter-School Debating

At this week’s Assembly, the boys were advised of an upcoming opportunity to trial for a place in one of our QDU Debating Teams.

The competition involves lunchtime meetings, argument preparation at home and four evening debates. The debates will be held on Thursday evenings - 9 June, 14 July, 4 August and 1 September.

Please have a conversation with your son, and encourage him to contact Ms Brown or Ms Little if he is interested.
