Assembly Reminders

I had cause to speak to our boys at assembly today regarding some of our College expectations they need to remember. Sometimes our boys need our help in making sure they understand these expectations so I share them here with you in the hope you will reinforce their importance:

  • Hands to Self
    • A very small number of our boys do not see the harm in “mucking around” in the form of hitting their mates or others in the genitals (aka “sack-whack”), handling others’ bottoms or poking a finger at the genital or bottom area of others. At no time is this appropriate behaviour and should the student who is being hit or fondled object to these actions, they can quickly become a police matter.
  • Blazers – to and from school
    • As all blazers are now in at the uniform shop, it is expected all Year 11 and 12 boys wear their blazer (not carry it on or in their bag) to and from school. They are to remove it when they get to their lockers. Should there be a reason for a student not to wear their blazer, they are to get a note from their HOH.
    • Boys in Year 5-10 who would prefer to wear a blazer instead of the grey jumper are welcome to wear a blazer in its place.
  • Stay off the Flats when Signs are Up
    • We now have very clear signs on the Flats to indicate to our boys and the community when the Flats are closed due to poor weather. We expect the boys to follow these signs and not use the Flats in any way when they are closed.
  • Formal Hats – wet weather
    • In the event of wet weather, our Head of Students, Peter Serone, will communicate with the boys before they leave school on afternoons when it be wise for them to leave their hats at school so they don’t get wet. We will also look to using the app to send out a similar message in the mornings when the weather will not permit the wearing of the formal hat. Boys in Years 5-8 and Year 11 are to wear their formal hat to and from the College every day unless otherwise directed.
  • Saturday Sport Uniform
    • Boys are to ensure they wear their full team uniform to play sport every weekend. (No wearing of slides, thongs or Birkenstocks.)
    • Students who stay to watch the 1st XI or XV must be in full winter uniform, including blazer and hat (formal for Year 5-8 and Year 11s / blue wide brim for Years 9, 10 and 12). The only students not expected in full uniform as spectators are the 2nd XV and 15As who will have just finished their games. Students not in uniform will be sent home.

Walkathon

Thank you to those families who have already begun donating. Congratulations to the primary boys who are in the lead at the moment. They are followed closely by Ephrem and Ignatius Houses.
