A reminder that our Curriculum Day is next Friday 10th June, this is a student free day. This is followed by the Queen's Birthday Public Holiday on Monday 13th June, there is also no school on this day.

We wish good luck to the following 4 students who are competing in the Casey South Division Cross Country event today in Pakenham.

Cody S Year 5                       Caleb G Year 6

We are all very proud of you for your efforts this far and can't wait to hear your results!

Breakfast Club

Throughout the year, our Clyde Breakfast Club program has continued to grow, with over 60 students attending each day to enjoy a range of breakfast items including porridge, toast, cereal, beans and fruit.

While we have a dedicated roster of volunteers who assist with the running of our Breakfast Club each week, we are currently looking for more to ensure there are enough volunteers to run the program 2 mornings a week. If you have completed the Parent Helper Training course at our school and would be able to help serve/prepare breakfasts on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:15 – 8:45am, we would love you to contact our office. You don't need to sign up for every week, just nominate 1 or a few mornings you could help out for 30 minutes.

With the colder weather approaching, our Breakfast Club program has relocated indoors and is held in the library (entry is via the main doors, not individual classrooms).

Police Visit -  Written by Peyton B- Year 6

Members of the Narre Warren Proactive Police Unit came to visit and talk to our Year 5 and 6 students on Wednesday. The main themes covered in this discussion were making good choices, speaking up when there is a problem and staying safe online.

They specifically spoke about key strategies:

Dave was our host and talked us through social media, bullying and some crimes that people commit. One of the first things Dave shared with us was making sure that you help your friends and try to stop your friends from getting into any trouble. Dave also said things like

  • Own up to your mistakes
  • You are responsible for your own actions
  • If you own up to your mistakes you can get in less trouble for being honest
  • Crimes can happen anywhere and at anytime
  • Making mistakes is ok, own it up and apologise and never let it happen again

He talked about some of the consequences that you can receive for things like

Assault, Stealing and Damage

The consequences could include

  • Arrest
  • Warnings
  • Interviews
  • Court / Caution
  • Criminal record

Dave also talked about what the police are trying to do.

They are trying to:

  • Protect People and their property
  • Stop crimes
  • Protect people from getting hurt
  • Stop damage from happening

We also learned about the importance of keeping our information private. We learned to never share our private information with anyone except our parents or teachers for school purpose. Information that we should never share are:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Birthday
  • Location
  • School / Sporting Club

He also talked about messages or photos you send to anyone. Make sure it doesn’t have any personal information on it such as your school uniform, location or phone number.

I learnt a lot of information from the police who visited today that will help me now and in the future

Thank You

We thank our families and friends who supported our Education Week activities, by attending either the Open Morning or the Literacy and Numeracy Trail. It is so great to see you all involved in our community, participating in events we have been unable to run for the past few years.

Uniform Support

At Clyde PS, we are really proud of our school uniform and expect all children to wear it. However, I have noticed increasing numbers of children who are not wearing correct school uniform—mainly this is children making choices to wear colours/items that they prefer.

We are following up with students and their families if they are not wearing the correct school uniform and we thank parents for supporting us with this message. Should any parents be struggling to buy uniform please contact our Wellbeing Team, led by Hayley Taylor on 5998 5293.
