May the Fourth Be With You:

Yesterday was Star Wars Day at Western Heights. I spent the morning before school greeting our arriving children and families, dressed as Darth Vader. It went well - though it was very hot and my mask was so steamed up it was hard to recognise the children at times. The only downside was one little girl coming up the steps saw me, squealed and turned to run away. I couldn't really chase after her as that would definitely add to her fear, plus with not being able to see well there was a good chance of tripping and falling and/or (even worse) standing on someone. Fortunately, she recognised my voice, stopped and came back. Whew!
Our Junior School was very fortunate to have Star Wars battle training from teacher Charlotte Westerhoff's partner Alex. He did a brilliant job and our children had heaps of fun learning the moves.
A Star Wars Day Joke - from Imogen in room 20:
What did the dentist say to Luke Skywalker?
May the floss be with you.
