What Is New in the Mandarin Classroom?

The Year 7 students are investigating ancient China this term, starting with the origin of the Chinese characters. The picture below is one of the earliest evidences of Chinese writing. It is on a piece of oracle bone, dated back to Shang Dynasty (16th-11th BC).

While exploring the development of Chinese characters, the Year 7 students experienced how to use Chinese brush and practised Chinese calligraphy. 

They also wrote down “我爱你 (I love you)” for Mother’s day.
