Principal

Mrs Fiona McAuliffe

Before we reflect on the significance of Anzac Day, I would like to reflect on what an amazing term we have had.  It has been great to see that over Term 1, the whole college has been getting into a routine of work and play.

In work, this is a big year for each of you, whatever stage you are at - everything you do now sets you up better for what is to come. The highlight this term has been spending some time in Maths classes with some Year 10s, 11s, 12s and 4s. And on Friday afternoon I shared the work with some Year 9 students. I didn’t just get to visit classes but got to work with them. It gave me a closer look at how committed they all are to exploring ideas and to learning.

In play, Harmony Day and the Twilight Picnic have been highlights for me and demonstrate our strong sense of community. The College Captains demonstrated their leadership in organising the Harmony Day assembly which included performances, scripture readings in many languages and a parade of students in cultural dress. Our community is rich in culture and in talent and it is always a joy to see how talented our students are in music and language.

The Twilight Picnic gave us an opportunity to celebrate all we love about the college with our families. The fun run raised around $5000 which will be used for furniture in the new Junior Years building.

But after such a great term, there is so much more to come. We will be holding an Opening Ceremony for the Junior Years building early in Term 3, which will be a major event that also commemorates our Jubilee year. As a community, we are excited to be celebrating 25 years of the College. It is an appropriate time for us to reflect on the opportunity that we were gifted with, all those years ago. Throughout Term 1, we have been planning various ways we will commemorate the occasion which will involve each of you, your teachers, and our wider community. I can give you some hints already that there will be treats, competitions and much fun as we look back on how we have been sharing the Good News since 1997.

I will look forward to revealing more when you return in Term 2.

COVID Update

We will be continuing with Rapid Antigen Testing, at least until Week 4 of Term 2. Therefore, your child(ren) will be bringing home more kits early in Term 2.

Enjoy the break.
