From the Dorms

Senior Girls

The Senior girls, especially the year 12 group, spent lots of time perfecting fun outfits for the respective school athletics days. From High Viz chicks to characters from Kath and Kim there were some great outfits heading out the door for the KCC and MDCC athletics

Carnivals.

On both days the girls returned tired a little red from the sun but most seemed to have had a great day. A few spent the day quietly, others cheering while some competed in many events

Medicinal Fruit

While looking out their windows during the study,  Lillian and Jordyn noticed a strange fruit growing in one of the trees. They came racing downstairs asking to go outside and pick the fruit. On returning, the items were scanned and Jordyn discovered that the plant was from Central and South America and considered a health or medicinal fruit by the people from the Amazon. The conversation turned to using the fruit, seeds etc to cure all sorts of ailments as well as Covid.  Who knows….maybe it will work!

The senior Girls welcomed a new boarder to year 11 in week 10. Taian Dutton comes from Tumut and has fitted in as if she has always been part of the group.

It has been a fantastic first term. The senior girls have coped with Covid and quite a number of girls had to go home and self isolate. There has also been a nasty cold/flu virus impacting the dorm also sending girls home to recuperate. One of our senior girls had to deal with several Covid related absences and one also had to head to a motel rather than go home to a house of Covid.

They have all, but in particular Year 11, have had to deal with a huge increase in assessments. Some afternoons and nights there have been sad, worried, tired faces trying to juggle work. The most memorable study-related conversation was when Emma Thomsen returned from her TAFE visit to the mortuary and regaled everyone with descriptions of what she learned and saw.

There have been some fun conversations about all sorts of topics and overall the girls have been cooperative, understanding, and forgiving. Looking forward to a great second term….but maybe not the cold!
