Principals Message

Dear parents and carers,
Last Tuesday the St Xavier's Staff had the pleasure of working with Luke Kennedy. Luke is a motivational speaker and author.
He uses his "Breathtaking" story to inspire Resilience, Motivation, and Self-Awareness, for a wide range of audiences. For eight years of his life, Luke was an obese alcoholic and drug addicted thug (Luke alters Story & Content to make suitable for Primary Schools). On the outside, he looked strong and confident, even happy at times, but on the inside his thoughts would haunt him. He was incredibly scared, depressed, anxious, paranoid, and was obsessed with what others thought about him.
Through his stories, Luke now connects deeply with any demographic. He's found that most suffer from the same internal battles; worrying what people think, living up to labels/expectations, social awkwardness, anxiety, dealing with past trauma, and not knowing who they really are or where to fit in.
The feedback from our staff has been incredible and the impact of Luke’s work with us is visible. This year we would like to engage Luke to work with our older children and our parents. He is one of the best speakers I have ever listened to and he has something for everyone to take away. Details of the visit will be well publicised and very much worth attending.
This is what Luke had to say after spending the day with us;
“Today was really something special….Holding a full day workshop with an incredible bunch of staff.
I said recently how something has changed with my connection with students.
There's a new level…
I felt the same today with the staff.
It feels like people all over are hungry for depth, realness and not content with accepting life as it is.
There needs to be a shift.
And staff in schools are in the position to lead that shift. They do so by leading everyday by example, and the way each and every one of them stood up today with integrity, insight and plenty of humour was super inspiring.
The students of St Xavier’s Gunnedah are in safe hands.”
Uniform Policy-HAIR CUTS!
There are a number of male students who have deviated from the current policy on hair cuts. Please read this carefully and if your child falls into the category please make sure the next cut is suitable.
Extract from the Policy…
“Extreme haircuts and mullet type hair cuts are not acceptable and are best saved for holidays.”
Any cut resembling a mullet is not allowed at school. Shaved at the side and longer at the back cuts are not acceptable. Hair should be neat and tidy at all times and if long must be tied back using maroon, black, navy or white bands or ribbons.
The complete Policy is included in this Newsletter.
