This term in choir, we have the chance to showcase what we do and what we are learning, to the rest of the school. Bringing together singers who just want to get involved, it has turned into a very fun experience. We have so far performed for the ANZAC Day assembly where our Year Seven Singers joined with the College Choir.  We still have Open Day, the Rock Symphony Concert and Catholic Colleges competition to come.  Some of these performances are combined with both band and string students from both Padua and Mount A. We invite the whole college community to attend.

Next Friday the 20 of May, our Showcase Chorale, a group of auditioned singers will be performing at St Peter’s for the Queensland Youth Music Awards. We will be singing “Fix You” and “I Believe”. Additionally, Showcase Chorale will also be performing at Open Day.

We asked a few members of the choir to share with us their thoughts on participating in choir.

“I enjoy choir because sometimes I feel stressed out, but when I go to choir I feel like it's relaxing and I can let loose and have fun with my friends while learning new fun and interesting songs”.  Charlotte Roberts, Year 9

“I enjoy being a part of the college choir, as it helps me progress in my vocal skills and build connections. I have made many friendships through choir and enjoyed all of the fun events.” Amy Slade, Year 8

“The college choir at Mt A for me is a safe place where I can relax, sing and enjoy some good music. I look forward to seeing my friends at choir every Friday afternoon, and I appreciate all the skills we learn by working in partnership with one another to develop a choral piece. It is truly one of the highlights of my week.” Jessie Chripczuk-Morales, Year 11

“I enjoy being a part of the choir at MTA because I have created such strong friendships and bonds with other people. You can always rely on them to make you smile or laugh, and they are always there to chat. It’s a really fun way to spend your morning and afternoon, as the songs are fun to sing and enjoy each other’s company.” Dom Van Zyl, Year 10

“Choir is a place where I get to relax and be myself. Choir isn't just a group of people singing. Choir is a family.” Phoebe Wade, Year 7

We welcome more students joining the choirs that Mt A has to offer.  If you're interested in joining please email Miss Daniella Curcuruto (curcd@staff.mta.qld.edu.au)
