A Fresh Start to the Year
With a new school year we have the opportunity for a fresh start to our borrowing from the library.
It has been lovely to see so many Foundation to Year 2 students with library bags already in their first week. We have a big thank you as well for Mrs Maudsley’s mum who made us some spare library bags out of leftover material. Your students may bring home a bag on loan until they get one for themselves. Let us know if there are any difficulties.
Some students still had books out at the end of 2018 and we suggested they take the holidays to try to find the missing items. If your child still has outstanding books it would be great to finalise these so that they have a new beginning and can bring home some great reading to share with you. If you have any questions give us a call.
Scholastic Book Club
The best gift any parent can give a child is the love of books and the joy and benefits of independent reading for fun. Children who read at home, or are read to, have a head start on reading success.
Numerous studies have found that reading is a key factor in a child’s lifelong success. Scholastic Book Club is found in 94% of primary schools across Australia. When Book Club comes out (twice a term) there is a fun and easy way to bring books into your home. You’ll find award winning books and bestsellers as well as old and new favourites. We recommend them because the books span a wide range of children’s reading levels and interests and are not too expensive (some as little as $2.00). Scholastic gives back 20% of the value of your orders to our school to buy resources. It is easy to order either online through Book Club LOOP, using the LOOP app or an order form with money to the Office. As the image shows, children who choose what they read will be more likely to enjoy what they read.
