Parking and Driveway Reminders
Some reminders for families about before and after school parking and appropriate and courteous use of the school driveway to ensure the safety of all members of our school and wider community. If there are members of your family who collect children from school who may not read the newsletter, please remind them of these important safety guidelines.
Parking
Please adhere to all signs and curb markings surrounding the school.
Please do not park in the signposted bus drop off area in Tulloh Street before school. Families are also asked not to park across, or too close to driveways, of private properties surrounding the school.
Cross at designated school crossings
Please ensure you model safe crossing practices to your children by crossing at the crossings provided. Please do not call out to your children to cross Tulloh Street at places other than the supervised crossing.
Parking at Kyabram Bowls Club and Croquet Club
These clubs generously allow parents to use their parking facilities at pick up and drop off times. We ask families to please follow all signage and respect the property of these organisations.
- The Bowls Club will place a sign at their front gate on competition days when parking is unavailable to school families. Please adhere to all notices.
- The images below show where parking is permitted at the Croquet Club. Please ensure that children do not walk or run onto the croquet court as this ruins the playing surface.
Parking in McCormick Road
Students not catching school buses are not permitted to exit via the McCormick Road gates and will be required to use the Church Street exit of the school. If you still wish to park in McCormick Road, we ask you cross the road and walk down to meet your children at the Church Street entrance.
Driveway Safety and Etiquette
- During busy times before and after school, please enter only by turning left and exit only by turning left - LEFT IN - LEFT OUT.
- Please do not enter the driveway by turning right from Church Street in front of other vehicles who are following the Left In - Left Out guideline.
- Vehicles are not to wait between the Church Street crossing and driveway to enter - if there is no room in the driveway, please continue around the school block and try again.
- Once in the driveway, please move forward as far as possible - large gaps between cars do not allow other vehicles to enter the driveway and create a dangerous and frustrating build up of traffic in Church Street.
- Please remember not to block the parish car park entrance when using the school driveway.
- Please do not park on grassed area under trees next to driveway as vehicles backing out of these areas cause a hazard to pedestrians.
- Ensure your children do not attempt to enter or exit your vehicle until it has stopped moving - encourage them to keep moving towards the Brigidine Centre and wait until you have stopped before they approach your vehicle.
- Encourage children to enter and exit vehicles from the left hand side to avoid danger from traffic moving along the driveway.
- Please discourage children from crossing the driveway between vehicles to access cars parked along Church Street. It is safer to walk to the footpath near the Church Street crossing and cross the driveway along the footpath.
Thank you for keeping our children safe.
