Middle School

Welcome to Middle School

In 2019, Mr Julian Holland will be the Head of Middle School, as well as the Year 9 Manager, and Mr Scott Fisher will be the Year 10 Manager.

Our Year 9 and 10 students have made a positive start to the year so far, with the two highest number of green chronicles (teacher positive feedback to students) being recorded on Compass amongst all year levels.

Farm School

We have ten Year 9 students participating in the Cert I - Conservation and Land Management (AHC10116) program at the Woori Yallock Farm School for semester one 2019.

Below are some team-building activities they participated in.

The group was given a lesson that focused on Photosynthesis and energy, which will all make sense in a few weeks after they head to Kilcunda to learn about a range of things including sustainable energy and making better choices in regards to the way we use our natural resources.

The group stopped in a spot in Woori Yallock to collect seed from some locally native POA GRASS. They will sow this seed and propagate it when it is ready later in the semester.

Some time was spent in the nursery, pricking out and potting up plants.

This was the first time this group had done this, but they all did a great job and between them, they got a couple of hundred plants done. They will spend quite a bit of time over the duration of the semester in the nursery, so it was good to see them take to it well.

Year 9 School for Student Leadership

Congratulations to Rhiannon Kelly and Declan Garrett who have both been successful in obtaining a position in the School for Student Leadership at the Snowy River Campus for Term 2.  Up to 45 students will live full-time at the campus for nine weeks to develop leadership skills, participate in various outdoor team building activities and expeditions and work as a team to develop a Community Learning Project.  We wish our students well and hope that they make the most of this fantastic opportunity!

Class equipment

Now that we are four weeks into the school year, the expectation is that all students will have the required equipment for class.

This includes scientific calculators for Mathematics and Science classes and laptops (from Years 7-9). Physical Education classes will require students to wear the sports uniform.
