Junior School

2019

Welcome to 2019 and a special welcome to our wonderful new group of Year 7 students. This year we have reorganised our school into three sub-schools instead of two. This gives us the opportunity to further tailor our programs for individual cohorts and ensure that every student is successful.

The Junior School consists of Years 7 and 8, Middle School is Years 9 and 10 and the Senior School is Year 11's and 12's.

I am Head of the Junior School and the Year 7 manager, Mrs Morley is the Year 8 manager and together we will lead the Junior School team. We really encourage parents and guardians to contact us with any queries or concerns and welcome the opportunity to discuss your student.

Our Junior School theme of T.E.A.M – Together Everyone Achieves More is something we will be promoting throughout the year, particularly in our celebration assemblies each term and during the monthly presentations of our High Flyers and Student of the Month.

We have a strong focus on positive feedback and celebrating achievements in the Junior School, so we want our students to have conversations about their day and any Green Chronicle entries on Compass.

If any parents or guardians would like some help using Compass, please contact the school and ask to speak to Mrs Morley or Miss Jackson.

First Day for Year 7

Year 7 Fun Day

On the 1st of February, following an exciting first two days as high school students, our new Year 7's boarded our school bus and headed out to the fantastic local facilities at Fern Gully Lodge.

The day was designed to facilitate the creation of new friendships, establish the processes and expectations that reflect our school values and to welcome our 2019 cohort to what we know will be an amazing  six-year journey.

The group activities for the day had a strong focus on pushing  personal boundaries, teamwork, personal care and celebrating the success of others. These included a giant swing, leap of faith, flying-fox, team obstacle course, problem solving initiatives and we ended the day with a group session focusing on self-esteem and awareness, motivation and positivity.

The enthusiasm of all the students was fantastic with everyone participating in the day’s festivities. The only lull in conversation and laughter came when morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea was served as they eagerly refuelled for the next round of activities.

The cooperation and encouragement we witnessed in this group of students who have not known each other for very long at all was extremely pleasing and a wonderful indication of the things they will accomplish together as a group.

We are incredibly excited about the year to come and welcome the involvement and support of all our families in any aspect of our school community.
