Health and Physical Education

This term in Physical Education the Year 6 students will be building their skills in the sports of athletics, Australian rules football and rugby. Within Health, students will be investigating media influences on health and wellbeing.

Visual Arts

This term Year 6 students will explore a range of Australian indigenous art with a focus on symbolism. They will etch designs on a boomerang and create an indigenous inspired background using symbols to tell a story.  As a year level students will be involved in creating a contemporary indigenous canvas for the school fete.

Performing Arts

This term Year 6 students will extend their knowledge of solfa and rhythms. They will apply these skills in compositions using tuned and untuned percussion. Year 6 students will also use a broad range of music to inspire short drama performances that include character, staging and rhythm.

Chinese

Year 6 students are developing knowledge and skills in Chinese writing, oral communication, and an appreciation of Chinese culture. Students learn countries, sports and study the Chinese Pinyin phonic system as well as Chinese cultural events - Moon Festival. They participate in songs, games, chants and a range of cultural activities. Students explore the use of Chinese language on the iPad and take part in short question and answer exchanges.
