Work in Progress Concert (W.I.P)

On Tuesday 5th June the school held the W.I.P Concert where 81 students performed a range of exciting and challenging music. All students are to be commended for their performance on the night and should be very proud of their achievements. It was great to see so many family, staff and other community members in the audience supporting our music department. I’m sure others would agree as to how amazing it is to see the musical skills of each student and ensemble develop each semester. I am really looking forward to working with the students to create another exciting concert during semester 2!

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the music captains, Alec Peterson and Amber Holland as well as the other music staff, Josh Licht and Andrew Darling for helping me make the night so successful.

Hamer Hall

On Tuesday 22nd May some of our students performed in the NEVR Concert ‘Tributes’ at Hamer Hall. Students had to put in an application form to the region and then were selected to perform in different groups according to their ability. Amber Holland, Eliza Hoiles and Taylah Chipperfield were part of the ‘Super Sax’ group and Alec Peterson, Joseph Fitridge and Darby Chipperfield were part of the ‘Concert Band’. Madison Patania, Jen Watson and Monique Willemsen were part of the ‘Rookie Band’ which I was selected to conduct. The HHS Sax Ensemble was also selected to perform as a foyer item during the interval.

All students performed with great professionalism and are a real credit to our school. I hope that more music students choose to put in applications next year as it is such a great experience being able to perform in such a highly regarded venue with some of the top conductors from around the state/country.
