Year 9 & 10 Update

As we head to the end of a very busy and productive Term 1, it is an opportunity to acknowledge the great work being done by our Year 9 and 10 students and also to start thinking about the exciting programs that will take place later in the year.

At a recent Year 9 and 10 assembly it was pleasing to recognise students who have been consistently demonstrating the school values of RESPECT, COMMITMENT, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE and CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT.

The following students were awarded:

  • Respect Certificate-Loujane Kaddour / Yasir Nur
  • Commitment Certificate-Muskan Mehra / Ahmad Mohammad
  • Academic Excellence Certificate-John Liapis / Rowda Kalil
  • Continuous Improvement Certificate-Hasan Allouche / Fahmi Yaqo

On Wednesday April 21st (first week term 2) the School Athletics Carnival will be held. This is always an enjoyable day for all students and staff to share and will be a good way to start off the term.

It also worth being aware of the City Experience Program which will run during Term 4.

Below is an extract of a letter which will be sent out to parents later this year in relation to the 2021 Year 9 City Experience program:

Wednesday 3 November - Friday 5 November 2021 (Term 4)

The Year 9 City Experience is a unique opportunity for students to explore the many attractions and features of our great city of Melbourne, whilst at the same time discovering more about the people and places, locations and businesses in and around the Central Business District (CBD). It is a 3-day program that also provides students with the experience of travelling to and navigating around the city and in so doing, aims to equip students with the skills, knowledge and confidence to travel to the city for future education, work and entertainment purposes.

The Year 9 City School Experience is an essential part of the Year 9 curriculum and all students are expected to attend.

ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Potential Attractions and Activities include :

  • Old Melbourne Gaol
  • Eureka Skydeck Observation Platform
  • MCG Sports Museum
  • ACMI at Fed Square
  • Melbourne Sea Life Aquarium
  • Indoor Rock Climbing

These venues have been chosen to provide a range of experiences that will give the students a basis for understanding the city and what is located there.

There will be a great deal more information available to students and parents in coming weeks.

Once again JFC thanks all Year 9 and 10 students for their hard work this term and hope that all students have a safe and enjoyable Term 1 break and return to school refreshed for a productive Term 2.
