Where Are They Now?

“I was smiling and crying during the moment I heard the news that I had landed the amazing role of Mackenzie on Home and Away.  It was the best day of my life.  That weekend I flew home to Brisbane to tell my family who were beyond excited – they threw me a party and we all cried and celebrated together.  They are so incredibly proud of me”.

Emily Weir is making waves in her career.  After winning the Bille Brown Award for Best Emerging Actress and Best Supporting Actress for her role in the theatrical production of Tartuffe at the Matilda Awards at Brisbane's Powerhouse, she landed a role on Home and Away, first appearing in June 2019.

Emily attended St Dympna’s Primary School before coming to Mt A in 2003.  She has been profiled in one of the Alumnae's Remarkable Women of Mount Alvernia College publications.

In 2003, Emily landed her first television appearance on The Sleepover Club, which later sparked her interest in pursuing a career of acting.  Six years later, after realising studying business and creative arts was not for her, Emily moved to London, where she worked for three years as the Director of First Impressions at one of the top ten law firms in the UK.

In 2013 Emily started a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) at QUT.  Upon completion of her degree in 2016, she moved to Sydney to pursue her goals and received a call that delivered the exciting news of her role on Home and Away.

During her free time, Emily enjoys yoga and meditation.  She also loves fashion and has a particular passion for shoes - the higher the heel, the better.  Emily has always loved dancing and enjoys going to salsa lessons.  She also is an avid reader who loves travelling.
